Packing for a Winter Get Away?

You deserve a vacation!

You have earned the right to sit on a Caribbean beach in the deliciously warm sun and just be. You merit every second at an amazing spa with a butler and a personal masseur and a private (5 star) chef. You should be on a yacht headed for the Riviera with the rest of this world’s most beautiful people.

Okay, maybe we overshot that one a bit. But a girl can dream, can’t she?! At the very least, you deserve a vacation. You’re a breast-pumping mama, after all.

After you book this most deserved vacation, it’s time to consider packing. So you have one less thing for your concern and coordination, we offer you a list of items you will need as a sun-bathing, spa-going, yachting-lounging, breast-pumping vacationer.

1. Your Breast Pump
Due to airline restrictions on numbers of bags, we suggest you pack your pump in your
carry-on bag. Remove it from its carrying case to make it less cumbersome.

2. Pumping Accessories
This includes the breast shields, the membranes. Separate each piece in its own
sandwich size Ziploc bag to ensure hygiene and safety. Because membranes tend to be
so fragile, pack an extra set, just in case.

3. Collection Bags
These are a breeze to pack. Don’t even consider bringing the bottle version.

4. Power Sources
Don’t forget the plug. Bring batteries as a back-up. You never know.

5. Ice Packs
For use during your actual traveling time, bring ice packs that conform to the 3oz.
regulations.

6. Cleaning
If you’re checking a bag you might consider bringing the dish soap you regularly use for
bottle cleaning. But definitely bring breast pump wipes for use when tap water is
unavailable and/or unsanitary (like in the airport).

7. Cooler
There are some awesome carry-on bag options that actually have an insulated
Compartment, like the Baby Sherpa Backpack.  But a simple nylon, collapsible cooler will keep your expressed milk cool, especially with an ice pack.

8. Bottles
We suggest bringing three for rotation. Not too many. Not too few. Just the right
amount.

That’s it. You’re packed. Now go bask, enjoy, and relax as best as you can. You deserve it, you amazing breast-pumping mama.
