Freemie Freedom Hands Free Breast Pump User Reviews

You’re expecting a baby. Hoorah! And a breast pump is now covered by most insurance policies. Yahoo!

But which one should you choose?

The last thing you have time or patience for right now is an exhaustive search into customer reviews of popular breast pumps.  So we’re compiling them for you.

Here are what vocal, review-writing moms and editors are saying about the Freemie Freedom Hands Free Breast Pump (on sites as referenced).

User Reviews from Amazon.com

“I absolutely love this pump! I am an exclusive pumper and started out with an Ameda pump that worked fine, but I wanted to get another pump so I could keep one at work.

It’s quieter than other breast pumps (though not totally silent, it just kind of hums rather than sounding like a European ambulance siren). It’s a more comfortable pump (feels less “pinchy”). There’s no need for pumping bustier or nursing cover. It’s much easier to work / drive while pumping since it doesn't protrude as far from your body as a regular pump set-up. It’s easier to clean than regular pump set-up. The collection cups look pretty similar to a normal Tupperware container (so you don't get as many stares/questions if you have to rinse them out in a public sink at work). The cups hold 8 oz and don't get droopy when weighed down with milk. It’s possible to hold baby while pumping. It’s very easy to unhook in the middle of a session, go do something, then re-hook.”

“I LOVE this pump!!! I can pump just about anywhere I need/want to. The pump itself is very quite for a pump. I wish that the cups had ticks on them to tell you how much you pumped and that it had a battery storage option so you can pump on the go. A lot of people say it's hard to tell how much milk you have expressed, however I can see my milk on the side of the cup. It isn't as easy as with a traditional pump but that is to be expected.
I found this pump from my insurance company and after doing a lot of research on it, I had to have it. Sadly I moved and my new insurances did not cover this pump. However, I wanted it so badly I bought one. I'm so glad that I did. I have two other pumps (one from Evenflo and one from Medela) and this is by far my favorite. To connect to the Medela Pump In Style, you don't need to get the converter pack for it. The hose fits perfectly to the Medela. I find that I do not express as much milk when I use the Medela vs the Freemie base. I pump for time, 15-20 mins. With the Freemie base I will express about 3-4oz but with the Medela base I get 2oz.”

“I've been using the Freemie Freedom for about 5 weeks since I've gone back to work. Overall I love that I can pump in the car and it not be obvious. I also can sit at my computer at work and not feel like I have to hide in a room. However, it seems to take longer than my Medela does (20-25 min).

“I REALLY like having the cups inside my bra. So much more comfortable, especially at work. I definitely prefer keeping my shirt on in the office, even with my door closed!”

“This is by FAR my Favorite type of pumping system. I'm not sure why other manufacturers don't follow-suit on this design. Its simplicity is unsurpassed in the breast pump Industry, as is it's 'Easy to Clean' construction and assembly. The pump unit itself leaves a tad bit to be desired in terms of 'Suction', but not much. It IS a fully adjustable unit in terms of pump speed (70 draws per minute is the recommended speed for most units, & this will go well above OR below that), and in it's suction strength. I own several brands of pumps, and there are a couple on the market that have more powerful pump units, but here's the cool part - Nearly ALL the tubing and fittings that are provided with these units ARE interchangeable. Soooo, if you have a pump from another maker and you're in love with the unit itself, but don't care for the "Bottle Collection" method that most manufacturers put out there, simply swap out the tubing and collection cups (rather than bottles) from THIS unit with the one you're using now, and you'll be amazed at the difference these 'Dome Type' cups make. To top it off, they fit inside ANY bra with a band size that fits you, so you can literally "Pump on the go" with these cups, and do so for the most part "Discretely" as well. The noise of your pump unit will “give you away” faster than the size of your breast when wearing this in public, at the office, or pretty much anywhere you are when your schedule tells you it’s time. Bottom Line: this is one of THE best pump systems ever made. It’s Effective, Easy to clean & sanitize, requires NO special bra, and can be worn anywhere you wish. I LOVE it.”

“I was fortunate enough to get this pump covered through insurance, but if something happened to it I would buy again without hesitation. The Freemie fits comfortably in my nursing tanks, fits my breasts well, and gives me the freedom to massage and help with letdown. I could also pump in the living room visiting family as opposed to having to hide for 30 minutes bored out of my mind. Thanks to the Freemie I've got a great freezer stash and no problems pumping at work. Pump is easy to set up and the quietest I've ever dealt with. Strong suction, roomy cups, very easy to cleanly pour into breast milk storage bags without losing a drop. I can't rave enough about this pump! I'll let you in on a secret - I'm on my lunch break at work and pumping as I type this!”
